There is an adoptathon this weekend if you want to check it out. Quite a few shelters will be there. http://www.facebook.com/AdoptAThonMarathon?fref=ts

I have a little dog I'll give you! It's no boxer though. My wife is tired of her "overly sweetness" since she gets in our son's face and tries to lick him in the mouth. She is fixed, sweet, house trained and calm 90% of the time. She even cleans up after herself and other dogs, can't break her from it.
Saleen

Yea, she is lazy as shit too.

Same deal with my dog. Didnt realize she was about to be put down and decided to sleep on it before making my decision. Luckily her euthanization was postponed and i brought her home. Best decision i ever made.Originally posted by Jedi View PostI got Eva at the Irving Animal Center as a rescue. She was a "code red" where she had less than 24 hours left before she would be put down. I adopted her with about 3 hours left on the clock.
She's been the absolute best dog i've ever had.
Save a life if you can. Do a search (or ask the shelter) about their urgent animals and they can steer you to them. I don't know if anyone else felt this way but it was absolutely heartbreaking to see so many animals in need of homes. I will always go to a shelter or rescue first.

Very awesome of you. I feel the same way.Originally posted by Jedi View PostSave a life if you can. Do a search (or ask the shelter) about their urgent animals and they can steer you to them. All boxers I've been around are apeshit hyper, at least for the first few years. As Brent said, that could mean trouble for an older dog who is already likely to be a bit territorial and maybe jealous of a new dog.
And with two dogs like that (large, strong, bully breed, etc), I can't say enough that it's best to get a male/female combo and still have them both neutered/spayed. I know there are lots of stories of male/male or female/female dogs getting along fine, but the risk is much higher that they will clash, and it could get really ugly.
Good luck with your search. I think rescuing a shelter dog will be hugely rewarding for you (and the dog, too, of course).

I have a 1/2 german sheppard 1/2 boxer that I inherited when I got custody of my daughter. He is about 1.5 years old and up to date on all shots. I have a pool in my back yard and he could use more room to run and play. If you're interested, PM me.
