They've actually ruled out nat gas now. Still unsure of the cause.Originally posted by CJ View Postdamn. That's impressive. It's really hard to believe gas did that.
As for the 31 houses (updated number) that are "uninhabitable"... the surrounding houses look ok enough in the pics but apparently a lot of them were actually shifted off of their foundations.

Another gas leak!!!! Government needs to ban natural gas!!
http://www.kjrh.com/dpp/news/local_n...to-evacuations
TULSA - Residents were allowed to return to their homes after a valve malfunction sent gas into the air from a pipeline near 89th and Memorial Drive that prompted evacuations and road closures Monday morning.
Police urged residents living between 87th to 91st Streets and 83rd East Avenues to 93rd East Avenue to leave the area.
The leak began just after 5 a.m. when nearby residents heard noises they described sounded like jet engines.
HAZMAT, Tulsa firefighters and Tulsa police located the pipeline break near a storage facility. Officials said the leak was near a construction site.
Investigators have determined construction was not to blame for the leak.
By 7 a.m. the leak had been capped and officials began reopening roads.
TFD spokesman Capt. Stan May ssaid ays the leak was coming from a high-pressure release valve that opened as it was supposed to to avoid an explosion or rupture.
Oklahoma Natural Gas spokeswoman Cherokee Ballard says the valve has an alert system that's supposed to sound when there's high pressure, but the alert didn't go off.
The valve is being removed and sent to the manufacturer for repair.
Ballard says nothing like this has ever happened at an ONG site.
About 100 homes were evacuated during the incident.
One caller to 2NEWS who lives in the neighborhood said the leak sounded like a jet engine fired up next to her house.
Another viewer said it sounded like she lives next door to an airport.
Schools in the area were in session as usual.
No one was injured.

I remember one around then when I was working at Plano Lincoln Mercury...wasn't too far from there, and we heard/felt the explosion when it happened. However we found out later that it wasn't natural gas....was some guy working on his old Chevelle, clicked on an electric fuel pump that was spewing gas all over the garage floor and he didn't realize it until it had made a huge puddle....then as timing would luck out, his water heater in the garage just happened to kick on, which triggered a massive explosion. The house burned up pretty good, but the weird thing is that it suddenly reignited like a week later, and that time I believe it was somehow related to a natural gas line.Originally posted by TRAXX View PostI remember a similar thing happening not to far from a buddies house in Plano in the early 90s. Nothing to that extent though..Jeez!
Maybe the same incident?70' Chevelle RagTop
