Apparently he had a liver transplant after drinking heavily for years (supposedly 4 bottles of champagne a day on the set of the original Dallas), diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease several years ago, and finally died of throat cancer from smoking. On top of that he admitted to LSD and Pot usage. Sounds like a hell of a life.

I never knew he was a pot head but just read that he wanted his ashes spread over a field that was planted with wheat and pot. He then wanted a cake made that was big enough to feed 2-300 people. He was an interesting one.
