This isn't about how much or how little YOU are sensitive to certain subjects. This is about showing some respect to our few fellow members that are of color. We only have ONE fucking rule, don't be a racist. Keep your racist views off of this board and everything else goes. I'm not an ADMIN so I don't get the emails when someone reports a thread where someone is fucking up, but I do my best to at least enforce the ONE rule we have.
If one of your buddies is making a racial slur, edit that shit and send him a PM or text, not hard really. But not doing anything about it is as bad the crime itself.

I try to use discretion when I'm watching a conversation. If everyone understands the premise behind a statement and isn't offended, I don't feel we should get involved. If someone is showing wanton racism then it's our job to step in. But, I feel that formulating theories on why a particular statement might be racist based on other posts is a stretch. I try to keep things nice and simple. If you think I'm doing a shitty job then post it up in the forum and let everyone give their input.

The rule isn't (wasn't) even "don't be racist." It is (was) "don't use any racial slurs." Determining if a post is racist is subjective; determining if a post contains a racial slur is pretty objective.

Here's the thing though. If not a single white person is offended by the word, then it's not offensive, right?

There may be a few black people who aren't offended by the n word, but we all know that the overwhelming majority are. That's what makes it a legitimate racial slur, I would think.

So, based on that, I don't see how the two are really comparable, and I'd think that he's not a hypocrite for thinking one is unacceptable and one is okay. Just my .02.
