If uncontested you are wasting money by getting a lawyer. I did my divorce myself, and a couple of years later I did my own uncontested motion to modify parent / child relationship (when I took primary custody). Both times I got the forms and templates online and filed it all myself.

When I did the modification the judge was suprised I did it all pro se. He even asked me where I got the docs and such. He said he was suprised because everything looked really good.

Do some googling and commit some time to it, and there is no need to pay for anything other than the filing fees.

I know someone who paid that two months in a row. They had almost 8 digit net worth, and after the divorce the only remaining asset was the equity in the house they had to sell. Both parents had to step in to pay the final bills because there was literally no cash left. The wife would agree to something, but when it came time to sign the papers she would flip out and change her mind. Took almost two years if memory serves.

I wanted to sooooooo fucking bad. She used to corner me in the walk in closets, poke me in the chest, get in my face, and try to get me to hit her. I nearly talked myself into doing it, but decided surprise buttsex would be a better alternative until I could work up the gumption to accept divorce as a viable option.

They don't neven need a lawyer. It costs about $350 if you file it yourself. All the forms can be found online. It isn't rocket science. Go to the clerks office with the forms filled out, they tell you what to do, boom, 60 days later you show up again and you're divorced.

This is what I did, I made her pay the court costs also. Mine was final November 13th of this year. Best thing that could happen to me.

mine was final in october. printed every thing off the net we filled it all out and took it to the county clerks office and paid 340.00. waited 60 days divorced
