True, but he was on suicide watch, had no pay due for a while AND he was subjected to quite a bit of shit due to the fact he had to have 2 guards on him at all (I mean ALL) times. So he had his personal guard at night in addition to the fire guard. This lasted the first month or so.I wear a Fez. Fez-es are cool

So true, My grandfather saw very heavy action in the south pacific. I was aware he served. But had no idea of what he saw and or did tell after his death we found letters and diaries notes and lots of cool stuff. He never talked about it, ever.Originally posted by Kimmypie View PostEver hear any WWII or Viet Nam vets talking about their war experiences? Nope. They mostly kept/keep that shit to themselves which is why we never hear them claiming PTSD. I've wondered if they were a tougher generation or what.

I may be to hard, but if you enlist yourself in "a time of war" and don't expect to kill anyone, then claim PTSD then that's your own damn fault, I would gladly kill and put my life at risk for my country regardless! If you can't handle that shit don't join the military! I'm thankful for everyone I know who has, or have served, but I just don't like excuses. Man up to your actions.Wanna see my care face???

I'm old enough to remember the "self medicating" vets from from WWII and Korea. There's a reason VFW halls were so popular. My G'pa was a WWII vet, and though he rarely drank, he chain-smoked like I never saw, or seen since. He rarely slept at all, and had horrible dreams when he did. He died in 1994, and I still feel bad that he didn't get help.Originally posted by Forever_frost View PostA lot of the older vets just drank themselves to death instead of seeking help.

Honestly, Navy boot is. Hell, the two years in Marine Military Academy (military high school) was "tougher" than my boot camp. Granted, we had a pretty relaxed set of RDC's, so it could have been worse.Originally posted by Jester View PostWell, it can be pretty fucking traumatic to be honest. Saw a guy shave his eyebrows off and try to kill himself by slitting his wrists and guys try to escape every day. Been plenty of suicides in bootcamp.
I dont know if it gives you PTSD or anything like that, but it damned sure isnt a cake walk.04 2.6 KB'd Cobra!

You don't know what the fuck you are talking about, that is one seriously ignorant statement.Originally posted by Blakeski View PostI may be to hard, but if you enlist yourself in "a time of war" and don't expect to kill anyone, then claim PTSD then that's your own damn fault, I would gladly kill and put my life at risk for my country regardless! I was referring to USMC boot camp.Originally posted by slowyellow View PostHonestly, Navy boot is. Hell, the two years in Marine Military Academy (military high school) was "tougher" than my boot camp. Granted, we had a pretty relaxed set of RDC's, so it could have been worse.
its common knowledge to know the order of toughness for the military bootcamps is
1-Marine Corps
2-Army
3-Coast Guard
4-Navy
5-Air ForceMay God give us strength and courage in the time of our darkest hours.

If MCRD was the hardest of them all then the rest would be a breeze Granted it wasn't a cake walk, as long as you know its all a mental game to break you down to build you back up than you'll be good. The physical part was fun for me. But I like being pushed like that. It's the only way ill really work out hahahaOriginally posted by Jester View PostI was referring to USMC boot camp.

The worst part about Marine corp boot is staying awake for 2 days straight and keeping a straight face the first time they said "you're from Texas? Only queers and steers come from Texas and you don't have horns so you must be queer". Seriously I got this twice in the first week haha
