I got a light version I think. I've had it for a week and a half now. Started as a sore throat and went up to my nasal/head area. Been hacking up green shit every morning. Taking Mucinex 12 hour during the day, drinking lots of water, and at night take NyQuil. Nasty shit just wont go away.

We are seeing people diagnosed with flu AOriginally posted by Kimmypie View PostThe flu shot was for type A & it's the damn type B that's kicking everyone's ass. My fertility doc made me get both the flu & pneumonia shots this year since the embryo transfer is on Jan 18th & I still got the upper respiratory crap & had to take a round of antibiotics & cough meds. Definitely sucked ass.

I quit getting the shot after the 3rd year in a row that I got the flu after getting the shot, and this year is the first time Ive gotten it since. That is over 20 years of no flu/ no shots, 3 in a row of shot+flu.Originally posted by BlackSnake View PostI say this every year. Get tha mother freakin shot! I got the flu every year of my entire life till 15 years ago when I started getting the shot. I have gotten it once since then, and it was very mild.
Its 25/30 bucks for the shot, or a week or two out of work feeling miserable. Simple choice really..."If I asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses." - Henry Ford

Simple choice really...This is the first year I have got the flu (and I'm not so sure this was the flu since it wasn't bad and fever never got above 99.5*) since 1996, that year I got a flu shot since I had no other vehicle other than a Honda CB750 to drive through winter. I haven't had a flu shot since. It isn't scientific evidence, but good enough for me to not get another flu shot.Originally posted by Baron View PostI quit getting the shot after the 3rd year in a row that I got the flu after getting the shot, and this year is the first time Ive gotten it since. That's not what our docs have said. My daughter was at Cooks 2 times and her regular doc 2x and they all said that the flu shot was for type 'A', but everyone was coming in with type 'B'. My daughter had 'B'.Originally posted by 8mpg View PostAnd they keep promoting the flu shot. Fucking shot isnt working this year. We are essentially forced to get the flu shot at work being we deal with sick patients. We had to have them by Sept 1. There has been 5 people out with influenza A that all got the damn shot.

so can you tell me because i never had a good explanation...but why did they put the baby (5 months old) on tamiflu?? I knew they would put the kid on it since she was in the house.Originally posted by davbrucas View PostThere is no treatment for influenza once you have symptoms for more than 48hrs. What you do have to worry about is getting a secondary pneumonia and sepsis since influenza knocks your immune system down.
I didn't think it was a preventative.....that would be what the vaccine is for (if it was that specific type, correct?) So what is the purpose of tamiflu in infants (our family dr called a collegue to get a better understanding of dosing someone so young).

I'm pretty sure I've got this crap that's going around too. My assistant started feeling bad last Tues, and despite me telling her she could go home on Wed & Thurs, she only took Fri off because she couldn't get out of bed. I started feeling crappy 2 days ago, but have been able to work until now. I think I'm going to go home and take it easy and hope & pray it doesn't get worse. I have a trial/hearing tomorrow afternoon that I can't miss.
Davbrucas - my wife seems to think that taking a bunch of vitamin C right now will help me feel better, but it sounds like BS to me since I'm already coming down with it. Is the vitamin C thing just a wives tale?
