I'm not sure what to make of the entire thing, and this will be my only post on the subject.
Steve and I have exchanged some PMs in the past. I honestly feel that his heart wants to be in the right place, but he's battling some personal and internal demons and they are really fucking him up.
Kyle, 'manic' is apt. I believe that is the case here.
I'm not going to chastise him or in any other way try to beat him down... nor will I try to defend anything he's said.
I don't think Steve has ever been given the help he truly needs. The reasons for that are myriad, but the fact remains.
I also honestly believe that his heart was in the right place with his journey into seminary. The pressures of his world overcame him, as seen in this thread, and it didn't work out this time... I see a man who's been through a ton of shit (yes, a good deal might be self induced), and had/has good intentions (when the happy side of the manic is around), but that was overpowered by his world and crushed and he slipped back into his old ways of going into a super-defensive "fuck the world' mentality and lashing out at everything.
Long story short: no sin is worse than any other. If you're a believer then pray that Steve can overcome his demons and get back to the joy he feels when the good side of the manic is around. If you don't give a shit about anything greater than what goes on here (assuming there is a medical basis to this) then understand that not everyone is perfect, not everyone makes the right choice all the time (or even 25% of the time), and lastly not everyone was born without issue. You would help the blind person across the street....
