Oh damn I thought you made more. I didn't realize you were so close to the CA poverty line.Originally posted by slow99 View PostNo. My household income was slightly under $300k last year.
Lol first off, spending more than 15K on a sedan that you want to be fun, powerful, reliable, and well optioned is FAR from frivolous. Not even close. Hell 25-30k is reasonable with current times. Financing an M3 or cts-v would be at the low end of frivolous.Originally posted by racrguy View PostRich people don't become rich by frivolously spending money.
Second, in the 200s is upper middle class.

I like the G37 from Infinity. My mom and two friends have them and love them. The v6 has great power. Heck from a stop you can roast the tires and the suspension is tight.
Do not ever buy a BMW or a Mercedes used unless you get one that is Certified with 100k warranty or you will be very sorry when something breaks. Like Mercedes air ride shocks are like a grand to fix.Last edited by 01vnms4v; 01-31-2013, 09:18 AM.

By the way.. Speaking for myself, I am not trying to say that they TL is the be all / end all and trumps every other sedan that ever existed. But what you get for the price is pretty awesome. Keeping in mind that fully loaded with every option, brand new, you are looking at only $40k. I know that's not cheap, but compared to everything around that price, it is pretty hard to top.
And Matt, I know you have driven plenty of supercars and such, and there woudl obviously be no comparison, but I will extend the offer of a test drive to you too and bet you will be impressed.
When the current set of tires get a little closer to replacement time I want to take to an autocross event.
Published 1/4 mile times I have found are high 14 seconds in the high 90 mph area, but it feels much faster to me.

G37 is the newer G35 platform. They change the numerals to match engine displacement IIRC. They wont fall in that >$15k range. Jenn was looking to upgrade and couldn't find any south of $20-22kOriginally posted by 01vnms4v View PostI like the G37 from Infinity. My mom and two friends have them and love them. For your price range, even though you've had one and it's FWD, I like the TL. If they weren't maintenance hogs, for RWD I like the '06 to '08 or so BMW 5 series. I've driven a G8 with long tubes and full exhaust and it was nicer than I wanted it to be. I don't think those are in the range of what you're wanting to spend, though.

The 5-series is bigger and heavier, with the same motor options as the 3-series, and comparatively more expensive. The price and performance edge goes to the 3, unless the extra space is needed/justifiable.Originally posted by Tyrone Biggums View PostFor your price range, even though you've had one and it's FWD, I like the TL. I agree with getting a COPO car though, maintenance is a bit steep, though mine have been great, just requiring general maintenance.
