Don't worry, all of this is gods plan. I'm sure there is a lesson somewhere.

yeah, who's doing that estimating? The downside to the crusades is that we are only hearing the numbers that we have acess to today, and we have no idea if the recorded numbers were anything close to accurate. Ex: each night generally had around 5 traveling with him, but only his name would be listed.Originally posted by Vertnut View PostBy some estimates, about 1 million died over the 200 years of crusades? Hitler killed that many Jews every year.
This is somewhat interesting in terms of death associations in history: http://www.necrometrics.com/pre1700a.htm"If I asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses." - Henry Ford

While I can't verify this particular one, killing of churchgoers in Nigeria is pretty common.Originally posted by ceyko View PostAt the end of the day, it's money/power though. I mean, I do agree people use religion to control some and justify their attrocities - but there are some puppet master that are generally doing it for power or money.
That's just my opinion though.
Now, for the article - do we have any way to prove it? I try to validate everything I can and not assume something is as presented on a random article.
Disgusting if true.
I was actually expecting to see the photo from the article show up in a reel of photos from when hundreds of Nigerians were killed as they were trying to salvage oil from an over turned tanker that exploded. So far, I have not been able to find this photo turn up anywhere else. Nor can I find another news article to corroborate this one.

I found another article, with a different angle on the pic.
EDIT: According to this earlier report, it wasn't Catholics.
EDIT EDIT: Here's a vague report of it simply being Christians, but even earlier than the other two reports. So, who knows where the truth is.

No.Originally posted by The King View PostYou made the original statement, prove it right.
I on the other hand have not made any posts in this thread requiring further validation.
And in an effort to be a bit nicer on the board as of late: You called me out on my statement. Ill sleep just fine tonight knowing that you have no way to disprove that statement, and likely dont have the ability to know where to start looking for the totals to add them together. You want to argue, find some information to prove me wrong. Ill be her waiting sweetie."If I asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses." - Henry Ford

It's odd, you taking this stance... In every thread that I can recall I've asked you for evidence for something you've taken the same stance Baron has.Originally posted by The King View PostYou made the original statement, prove it right.

I can't stand the king, but he's right in this respect. He doesn't have to prove you wrong, you have to prove you right.Originally posted by Baron View PostNo.

However, according to Wikipedia the crusades killed between 1 and 3 million people but the sources given are over 100 years old and I'm not sure of the authors' credentials.
