You are correct, sir.Originally posted by black2002ls View PostThe only two times I used google to get me somewhere it sent me to the wrong place. Pretty sure the OP is more interested in finding a place that isn't full of unsavory individuals, hence asking people instead of a search engine

I'm just a guy you or your son may never meet but tell him that I appreciate his service and thank him for the sacrifices he has madeOriginally posted by 90MarkVII View PostYou are correct, sir.

Speaking of thanking people, we walked into Texas Billiards yesterday afternoon (corner of Mid Cities and Rufe Snow....and definately not what we were looking for). My son pointed out that bar was lined up with about 10 gentlemen who had the look of veterans about them. The bar tender (nice lady) was able to confirm for me that they were all indeed veterans, so we bought them ALL a round of whatever they were drinking.

I've had the pleasure of playing pool at places that pride themselves on providing a great environment for billiards. Unfortunately, all of those places are in other towns and states. The mentality in DFW has become, "let's push the tables closer together (or take a few out) and build a Karaoke stage. And then put a PA over each table with the db level so high the players can't think."
Couple that with a complete lack of etiquette, and you get every "pool hall" in the Metroplex.
Edit: A few pictures of a pool hall in Durham, NC. This is the real deal, and the absolute best I've found.

Sorry for the angle, not sure what was happening when I took the picture

Unfortunately, there just aren't enough customers to support a nice pool hall. Everyone I know that tried, ended up getting rid of the tables and/or closing down. I would like to find one that doesn't smell like an old ashtray and isn't in an area that looks like the set of "Blackhawk Down".Originally posted by Roscoe View PostThat's no lie...
