I never raced myself but I grew up at the tracks in Kansas and Missouri. My dad raced a street stock for several years, my uncle raced a late model for several years, and my other uncle raced midgets. When my dad quit racing he was usually working on someone else's car or in their pits. I went to Devils Bowl weekly for many years when I first moved to this area but over the years the car count fell so I really only go to special events now. I like to occasionally make a trip to the Chili Bowl or a World of Outlaws event up north but that's about it for me. Really wish there were more interest in it down here.

Ok here we go, suppose you spend $6k on an engine, i would assume you expect that to last 20-25 nights or a full race season? Thats $300 per night just to freshen that engine at the end of the year. Tires? Lets be generous and assume they are $500 per set, how many nights do you expect to get from a set? And brand new bias ply tires dont stand up to sheet metal bodies....you WILL cut a few off the car that were otherwise perfect.....Originally posted by Super Coupe View Post10 in gas to get there

Maybe 25-30 in fuel for the car
10 to wash it
If I make the a ill get some if it back.pinto gt with wood trim

Not only that, but street stock, a lot of those guys subscribe to the "8 tires is better than 4" train of thought. You're probably going to get hit every time you touch the track. There's a reason those cars don't have a straight panel on em.Originally posted by Grape View PostOk here we go, suppose you spend $6k on an engine, i would assume you expect that to last 20-25 nights or a full race season? Unless they run the track dry, (like the post above mentioned) you will replace more cut tires than you will worn out ones.Originally posted by Super Coupe View PostI have a motor sponsor for now. Going to freshen it up. Probably end up costing a few hundred dollars and will be ready to roll. I will probably run maybe 12-15 times a season. Depends on how dry the track is how long tires last. Probably make a full season on 12-15 tires.

One thing that helps with that is dont run at the back with all the wild guys who can't drive well. The people that run up front in that class are pretty clean drivers.Originally posted by 1carcrazyguy View PostUnless they run the track dry, (like the post above mentioned) you will replace more cut tires than you will worn out ones.
