Sounds like your doctor is spewing out the generic body mass index tables. I am 5'10"/185lbs and I look skinny. I even got up to 195 and still wasn't fat. I keep myself in shape. I also try to keep my weight up because I have crohns disease and I have no idea when my next flare may occur and have me not eat for 5 days. If I stay at the "ideal BMI" of 160lbs and lose 15lbs, I am a walking skeleton.

I hate that. I've got a physical next week, I wonder what they'll tell me.Originally posted by cobrajet69 View Post6'2 250
At my last physical my Dr. said I need to get down to below 210 pounds. He said my ideal weight should be around 180.
Hell I would be a skeleton at 180 pounds.

As has been said before, BMI is skewed, as it is only about height and weight, and doesn't take into account factors like muscle mass, bone denisty, etc.
At 5'10" and 220lbs, with about 12% bodyfat I am classified as "obese." I didn't know that it was possible to be obese and still be able to see your abs.

Yes he is! He even pointed to a chart on his wall to prove his point, and that was after I said he was out of his mind.Originally posted by JC316 View PostSounds like your doctor is spewing out the generic body mass index tables.

Man, my Dr. said I should be 200, which I got down to last summer, but I honestly felt that was a little too much weight loss for me...I've been floating back and forth between 205-210 over the winter, which seems to be the most comfortable range for me. However, likely I will be back on the lower end this summer.Originally posted by Baron View PostI was 235 year before last, and dropped down to 210. Im pretty comfortable at my current 215, but I will be dropping another 10-15 this summer.
I have certainly seen that beer drinking is directly proportional regardless.
