Vegas, Spirit Airlines flies out there at all hours of the day/night if you can put up with their bullshit.

Beaver's Bend at Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Not a far drive from the metroplex. Cabins are not outrageously price but are pretty nice. Laid back atmosphere.

Visit the Sundown Cabin rentals and Lodging in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. We have cabins in Broken Bow near Broken Bow Lake and Beavers Bend State Park!

                      I'll second beavers bend.

                      Or lake Murray

If Vegas, don't waste a lot on a room. None of the rooms on center strip will be that bad if You pick a reputable hotel.

daingerfield state park, 2-2.5 hrs away from dallas and the whole place is beautiful. spring fed lake so the water is crystal clear and they have bass/trout/crappie that actually bite. the lake is small compared to most texas lakes but that also means less people

Wife has been nagging me to take her to San Francisco for a weekend (Fri-Sun), I think in the next month or so we'll do that.

I've never been, but I don't really see it as relaxing.

My sis in law likes Frederickburg (They're there for a week right now) and Granbury for close driving getaways. There's also Wildcatter Ranch and once the weather warms Gaylord built that huge pool area. If you want out of TX I think Vegas is one of those only good for a couple days places so that'd work.
