What I said in both of those quotes are not contradictory. Some people that have served attempt to elevate themselves above others without proper justification. Solely because you served does not make you better or worse than any other person in the country, therefore you do not get any less or any more respect than another person.

I said pretty much the same thing, but now that I reread what I wrote it can be kind of confusing. There are instances where you sign a contract to work for a company in exchange for something, usually training, but those are few and far between. The only thing they can do to you is charge you for the monetary cost of the training if you leave prior to fulfilling the contract.

I take back what I said about not owing them anything....i think you owe them respect. Simple as that.

I may still join by applying to the Army CRNA school and give them 8 years of my life...not 100% sure yet. These are the choices we make in life. Some people will go into the military and serve their entire life, some will be firefighters/police/EMS, and some will run Wall St.

To be honest Tim, you will find egomaniacs that the only thing they have is being a grunt. You will also have true professionals that are masters at what they do and no matter what, you will come away better for it.
