Does being in the military make you better than others?

I may still join by applying to the Army CRNA school and give them 8 years of my life...not 100% sure yet. These are the choices we make in life. Some people will go into the military and serve their entire life, some will be firefighters/police/EMS, and some will run Wall St.

To be honest Tim, you will find egomaniacs that the only thing they have is being a grunt. You will also have true professionals that are masters at what they do and no matter what, you will come away better for it.

And no, jobs dont have a length of time that you have to work there....the military does so if you dont like it you are fucked.....if you do like it, you can keep doing it. You try to quit that job and your ass ends up in the brig.

I said pretty much the same thing, but now that I reread what I wrote it can be kind of confusing. There are instances where you sign a contract to work for a company in exchange for something, usually training, but those are few and far between. The only thing they can do to you is charge you for the monetary cost of the training if you leave prior to fulfilling the contract.

I take back what I said about not owing them anything....i think you owe them respect. Simple as that.

And I don't treat them any better or worse than any other person.

You dont have to buy them a beer, or shake their hand, or even look at them....but in the back of your mind, I think you should be thankful for the people that sign up to protect you and be respectful of that.

When we first started disagreeing on things I treated you better than anyone else would have gotten, solely because of the word of people I do trust saying that you're an alright guy, you have since proven yourself to be hard-headed and emotional so you do not get the benefit of the doubt and are treated on the same level you treat others.

What I said in both of those quotes are not contradictory. Some people that have served attempt to elevate themselves above others without proper justification.
