The article says that the cost of federal law enforcement efforts are not worth it. We will still have a War on other drugs and the cost of enforecement efforts will not go away. I doubt the revenue generated from taxing legalized grass will outweigh this cost. The article also said only 12% favored legalizing it in 1969. This was a time when getting stoned was at it's peak. So it seems like even the stoners back then got tired of having to deal with half baked people on a daily basis.

What would it matter if it was legal though? It would create jobs and would more than likely save lives. Why drink if I can smoke?
