They've released a statement that they were monitoring the situation through FEMA. But to your point, he's not made a personal speech about it. A small Texas town of 2000 people doesn't have the political capital of a marathon in the heart of a liberal city.

A guy I used to work with's dad's whole family has lived there for generations. We would stop in West anytime we were headed out of town, he showed me around the sleepy little town. The Chech Stop is always on my list of places to stop in when I head down south. Sadly, this will be a huge economical issue for West. Hopefully the majority rebuild and stay in the area, but I bet many wont have the means and will move. Especially with one of the larger employers in the town blowing up.

My family has been there for generations, with my great aunt being the only surviving member, and everyone else being buried therem including my grandparents. I grew up hearing stories from my mom and uncles about growing up on granpa's farm, and have been to West Fest more than a handful of times.

Though my great aunt was only a few blocks away, she and the rest of the home were able to be evacuated to Hillsboro, my heart goes out to those that weren't as fortunate.

Now is not the time for political bickering. If he sends Federal aid down here then that will get the people of West more help that is much needed.
