Costco FTW, they have some killer deals on all sorts of TV's.

Bought my last 3 there. Very good prices, cheap extended warranties, and "no questions-asked" return policy. I've never had an issue.

Just be careful of Samsung plasma's, they have had a class action lawsuit and a recall on them in recent years. I personally have had mine go out twice and it's never used.

They should have given you a refund. You either spoke to the wrong person or are a poor negotiator. I would have been livid. If I didn't get what I wanted from the store manager, I would have called corporate.

heh, yeah I had a K-cup coffee maker I bought almost 2 years ago. The damned thing was like 200 bucks and started f'ing up. I was ticked off and went up there and gave a story and how I thought it should've lasted longer...etc...etc. They were like "Uh, okay. Do you want to exchange it or return it?"

So easy to deal with. I'd bet at least 30% of my income is spent there.

Since I only have 1 TV, I went to Best Buy and replaced it, then sold the refurb on Craigslist less than 48 hours after I got it. Will not ever buy another Sony product in my life.

Personally, I have an LG 48" in the living room and I like it. It's been going strong for years, and I always get the longest warranty I can through best buy. They've always taken care of my broken TV's real quickly.

Samsung did as well I should mention - the first time the power supply went out they covered it. Now, it just went out again and it's on my dime.

Best Buy has some pretty good deals on 42"-50" LCDs and plasmas.

Wamart site-to-store is probably one of the best options out there. The TV's they usually display and offer in the stores are low to mid-grade offerings with reduced features and connectivity options in order to make the price more appealing.

Check Walmart's website for the class/size of tv you are looking for. Compare the models of the same class. Most manufacturers designate their models from lowest to highest using numbers at the end of the base model number. Something like -10 -20 -30 or P6 P7 P8. Each manufacturer uses similar methods to identify a base model from premium where the major components themselves are the same.

Some of the higher end manufacturers like Samsung will offer adequate features in their lower tier products where other manufacturers only offer the desirable features in their top grade models. A few dollars spent to upgrade the model's features can greatly increase the perceived value of your purchase in the future. Try to avoid the allure of the "get it now" sale price as your chances of getting a tv that you will hate in a few years is a definite possibility.

The size of TV you want is the first important factor to consider. You will find that your options under $1000 are plentiful for most any size TV under 60" Remember that the more features and connectivity options in your TV will increase its ease of use and usefulness in years to come when other technology surpasses what is available today.

They where out of stock of everything i wanted. Ended up with a cheap ass 55 inch sanyo lcd. I will prob do the site to store on the samsung led.

Sanyo's may be the worst TV's produced. Walmart is also one of the worst places to buy, a lot of their models are made specifically for them and are typically not representative of new or competing models at better price points. Just an assumed value proposition since you're buying from wal-mart. Fry's has a nice 55" LG LED with surround bar for a decent price of $799.
