what i heard from a friend of mine who is a professor there...

"For those wanting continuing information on the "shooter" this morning near SMU. They update about every half hour or so. Turns out it was a suicidal man with a knife near campus, not an active shooter on campus as the SMU emergency texts and calls told us this morning. Apparently, early on they thought the man might potentially be heavily armed? Hard to figure out so far why an "active shooter" blurb went out."
