Well, there's a lot of gray in there, but I will still video and retain my recording device wherever I am a witness to illegal police activity.

I'm pretty sure there are states that have laws saying you cannot film police officers, right in the text of the law. No wiretap laws or anything like that.

I *believe* Pennsylvania may be one of them. I remember a case with a motorcycle rider a few years ago that had his camera taken and he was arrested for having it.

This. You naysayers need to go on a ride along before you judge, or are you all too scared?

If I recorded something like that I would not hand over my phone no matter what.

I have no record at all. Had a few speeding tickets in my life. That's it.

However, one of my mentors when I was young was a DPS recruiter. And he constantly warned me about LEO's. He was a believer that any authority given to a man has the potential to corrupt that man and he saw it quite prevalently amongst police/LEO's. He told me that the same gang mentality criminal gangs have is the same gang mentality many LEO's have. He was a LEO himself, but ill never forget him telling me "just because they have a badge doesn't make them a good guy". From that lesson I've always been skeptical of police and law enforcement in general.

    And it's served me well.

I got pulled over not 3 weeks ago. Window tint too dark. I have the officer my CHL. He asked if I was armed. I said yes and pointed out where 3 guns were in the truck. He asked "why so many?" I said "because its my right". He replied that he thought that was overkill and said "don't ya think?" I said "if I'm not breaking the law it's not for you to judge". You could tell he hated being stood up to. He tested the windows. They were fine.

Many officers will abuse their authority. Even if just a little. Always question with boldness...never surrender your rights.

I got $5 that says the video(s) on the cellphone(s) "mysteriously" disappear or "accidentally" get erased.
