Many years ago, when I was doing enduro's, I came off of the bike at around 60 or so on a fire road at Thurber. Got back on it, finished (slowly) got home late, pissed blood that night. Turned out I had "lacerated" a kidney. Took some meds, drank a lot, and rested a day or two.

I have a buddy's dad that has one pretty close to basketball size protruding out of his stomach. he will likely die before he ever gets help from a medical professional. He still blames his wife's death from cancer on doctors, and no one will ever be able to tell him different.

I've had a pretty bad kidney infection and pissed what looked like small blood clots, I would assume its similar to what happens with kidney stones.
