How about cops just treat citizens at least as well as infantrymen in war zones have to treat those noncombatants? You know, following the Bill of Rights, making sure your search warrant is for the right house, don't kill homeowner's pets in their house when you do get the wrong house? Little things

Yeah, it would be, because I am pretty sure it hasn't happened a single fucking time.Originally posted by 03trubluGT View PostActually, more times than you think.
When investigating an allegation, if other misconduct is discovered, then additional allegations are levied.
I have never (thank God) witnessed excessive force in order to be placed in that situation.

Not sure how me explaining why some refer to officers as troops brought that response but I'll address it.Originally posted by Forever_frost View PostReally? Pretty sure departments have AR's, APC's, sniper rifles and quite a few of the same toys I had as an infantryman with much less training on it and fewer restrictions.
I'll gladly give up all of those things you listed if you'll make everyone be nice and not shoot at us or one another.

[QUOTE=Forever_frost;1092556]Bingo. The ex military who are cops couldn't let go of the adrenaline and the power. Want proof that they have a chip on their shoulder? Drive just a little too fast through a military town and watch the douche with the high and tight walk up and if you have a military emblem on your vehicle they have to exercise their authority all over your ass because you can't stomp them into mud for talking to you like you're an idiot child like you could if they weren't wearing a badge. Hell, you have some who think they're so cool they can wear this at work:
Bad Frost!
It is just like everything else, some good and some bad. I have worked with a lot of ex military folks and some are laid back as shit, and some are hell bent on flexing their authority. I will say the Marines seem a bit more edgy and all the other forces are just a mixed bag. No difference then just hiring regular joe off the street. Some want to kick ass and take names and some want to just collect a paycheck. You really can never tell during the hiring process how someone is going to end up. The badge does strange things to people.

Just like them, I tell ya...

We have several employees that were prior military. I guess that's why we are broken up into "squads". We "patrol" areas. And yes, the "brass" address us as "troops". Oh and our ranks share military nomenclature.
I don't think anyone, me for sure, believe we are the military. I just think it was easy for departments to adopt the same structure as the existing military.

And let's not forget that since I started cataloging his mirror quotes, instead of telling everyone to look in a mirror, he just repeats verbatim what someone else says to him and says "You're the one who needs to ________________." If "I'm rubber and you're glue" was a commodity I'd max out every credit card I have to invest in it and watch my portfolio climb with his post count.

No need for any dramatic posts about taking it to PMs, you can stop making yourself look foolish at any time by just not typing. A reasonably intelligent person would have figured that out by now.Originally posted by 03trubluGT View PostI said I would be happy to end this senseless bickering, but it seems you are just in it for the sport. Publicly talk shit, but then when it doesn't go your way let's make it private, so you can bitch about phantom quotes some more. lmao, do you think anyone actually buys your bullshit? Jesus. You didn't have a single problem talking all kinds of shit in public, and I don't have any need to make it private. If you've got something to say without some sort of asinine "bartering" then say it or shut the fuck up. This isn't Burger King.

Of course, if it was ignorant it would be easily disproven. The real issue is that it seems like that delicate self esteem of yours is hurt again because someone said something critical of your job. Of course that means it was about you personally.Originally posted by 03trubluGT View PostIt was your typical ignorant statement, and unworthy of comment.
Again, what was your branch of service, the Girl Scouts?
(Sorry if I offended any Girl Scouts.)
Sorry Matt, I'm sure your job is just as hard as the Marine Corp sergeant serving right now in Afghanistan or hell at 29 palms for that matter. My apologies, I should learn to recognize the difficulties of grabbing a six figure income while writing reports and stopping people for dark window tint. I bet the overtime is killer too. How much overtime do active duty military get anyway? Please let us know.

I propose that we take this to PMs, and give the rest of the site a break from our bickering. It's been suggested before, but I'm willing to do it.
