Man, the salt must have done a number on it. Mine has 210K on it and everything still works, right down to the sound recorder. Oh and I found some pretty interesting messages on that recorder, starting with a happy family and ending with a guy drunk driving and cussing his wife and her "fucking wookie friend". Now I know why it was still full of her junk when I bought it....

It completely ate up their brand new RV within a few years too. I don't think it was a quality issue at all. Their plot was literally 1 sand dune away from the ocean.

A lot of Ford vehicles have them, it's on with the home link garage door opener. Basically, you press a button and then you can record messages then play them back later. I have had two explorers and two F150's with them installed.Originally posted by Trip McNeely View PostWhat is this recorder you speak of?
Didn't realize that the salty air damaged stuff THAT badly, guess it makes sense though.Originally posted by talisman View PostIt completely ate up their brand new RV within a few years too. I don't think it was a quality issue at all. Their plot was literally 1 sand dune away from the ocean.

$50k explorer? Good god. What is the inflation-adjusted value? Anyone know how to do that?Originally posted by davbrucasI want to like Slow99 since people I know say he's a good guy, but just about everything he posts is condescending and passive aggressive.
Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?
You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

3.5 V6. The base model comes with Bluetooth, power windows/locks, power drivers seat, power mirrors, 3 rows of seating, Microsoft sync or whatever it is.Originally posted by Sean88gt View Post27k is more like it. Which engine? What does the base include these days?
Oh and the base also has hubcaps. I hate that shit but whatever, too cheap for much more.

Good info ya'll. i have a 2010 Edge and am pretty done/over it. Its been a good car and still is. Sounds like the explorer is a lot like the edge tho (Fwd, torque steer) which are the negs i was trying to get away from on the Edge. The AWD would be the minimum requirement in that case. The resale is a kicker tho, unfortunate.

We thought we really wanted one....love the looks of them, but after test driving a few and then renting one in Vegas for the week of SEMA last year....negative!
I wanted to like it, but just flat did not....at all! the seats are shit, and the way that the drivers left armrest is positioned makes it really uncomfortable. I didn't care for the way that it drove either....very clunky with a lot of torque steer, and almost like the body is over-sized on the chasis....like mentioned above, a car platform that they decided to overload with a bloated SUV body.70' Chevelle RagTop
