Test drove a 2014 Camaro SS!

I really love the Challengers, but like Danny, I just don't get why they made them so overweight. The Camaro and 5.0 have 4.3 second 0-60 times, and the even the SRT8 is slower. I really like all 3 of them. It feels like the late 90's again, though Muscle Cars don't seem to be nearly as prevalent and popular as they were back then. I've gotten some dirty looks from Portland looking hippies as I blow buy their precious little savetheplanetmobiles.

I had an '06 Ram 4.7 quad cab. It was a damned good truck that never gave me any problems at all. I only had it about two years though, but the experience made me warm to modern Mopars.

You didn't own it long enough. If it were not for Dodge products my shop would be closed. Their trucks are garbage. Bearings, brakes, electronic gremlins, clutches, water pumps, various sensors etc etc fail much more often than on a Ford or Chevy. Chevys come in for MFC switch, brake switch and maintenance. Fords come in for fuel filters and maintenance. Dodges come in for everything else.

I have three low mile 318s and two low mile 4.7s sitting out back at my shop with holes in them. Freakin garbage.
And I have yet to have a pre 2007 Dodge truck in my shop that still has an in tact dash board.




That being said the white Challenger looks slow.


JK, out of all Dodges I would love to own any SRT vehicle. Even the damn Neon. LOLZ.

My stepdad had an '06 4.7 quad cab too. That was also a good truck, though it did have the broken dashboard and it required the a/c to be replaced at 180k miles. My dash was flawless, but I think the '07 got a slightly different interior than the '06.

I got rid of it at 73k miles because I figured it was about due for some major issue I didn't want to deal with.

I had an 03 4.7 Ram reg cab for a few years. I drove for about 60k miles before I traded it in. No problems but I never liked the condensation that built up in the oil filler neck. The first time I saw it I was like wtf is going on. Dodge said it was normal. Never thought that was a good thing for the motor long term.

The 4.7 (at least the early ones) were just so bad. Go on Craigslist and look for Durangos. Over 80% that are under $5000 (for trucks that book at 2k) have need of a new engine. I get at least 4 Rams a week with 4.7s that have all kinds of electrical gremlins and if you don't do the oil changes every 3k then at 80k the motor is dead, sometimes in as little as 40k.
TPS, crank sensor, fuel pump, cabin blower resistor, heater core, dash boards, wheel bearings, brakes, ball joints, ABS sensors and ABS pumps seem to be the most common things I see on any Ram from the new design in the early 90's up to 2007. I only have a couple customers with 2007+ trucks and can tell you if you don't work the Cummins it will screw stuff up quick. That and the dual mass flywheel on the stick oil burners is just retarded. And heavy. And hurts when it lands on your chest.

My wife had a '06 Jeep Commander with the 4.7. The rig was flawless inside and out. The only thing it ever had done outside of routine maintenance was a Dealer PCM software update flash. If there were any complaints, it would be poor gas mileage. I actually am quite impressed with the new 4.7, especially the '09 & up versions. The new 3.6 Pentastar, even more so..

Supposedly with the Jeeps it's hit or miss, but if you do have problems you have A LOT of them.

I will say the Challenger is a very comfortable car. It does feel "heavy". My wife drives and Infiniti M45 and its not anywhere as nice a road car as my Challenger. She's looking at the new Q50 now. She takes my Challenger when she can...

My cousin is choosing between the SS and a Challenger and he brought the SS back for an overnight test drive and I took it for a spin. Holy shit those cars are quick. Pulled through a hard S curve at 75-80 and that thing was planted to the ground. I'm thoroughly impressed. It was an auto but the paddle shifting was pretty cool.

Compared to our slow ass new edge mustangs, yes they are. Just tell him to get a new mustang he will be much happier than a slomaro.
