Shelf and tap space comes at a premium and they’re going to take up every bit possible at any cost.

ABI isn’t stopping there. They shook up the homebrew world a couple of weeks ago when they bought Northern Brewer/Midwest Supplies. Between the two, they held the largest stake in the homebrew market in the country. This was HUGE. Not only are they attacking craft beer, they are now attacking independent homebrew shops. ABI’s ingredient buying power is extremely strong and now grain and hops will become a loss leader at NB/MS. They are essentially the Walmart of beer.

In additional news, Revolver, who was recently bought by MillerCoors, is using that big beer money and planning to open a second location at the upcoming Texas Live! district in Arlington.

The market is becoming so convoluted, even I have a hard time keeping up with who owns who and I follow beer daily. I choose to direct my money away from big beer, but it definitely takes some effort.

So I've started going to The Bearded Lady on Tuesday nights to take advantage of probably the best beer special in town. If you buy their glass for $8 all draft beers are half price. You only have to buy it once.

Last night someone mistakenly put on a keg of 120 minute and it was in their system at $9 which I'm guessing was for a 8-10 ounce pour. So I got a full 12 ounce serving for $4.50. In addition to that they had this years Pump[KY]n on the wall for half price, which was I think $6.50.

Both beers are absolutely spectacular of course. The 120 minute was 18% abv and Pump[KY]n is 18.8% this year.

drinking a bit tonight. st arnold 2016 pumpkinator imperial stout, pretty damn good at 11%, had a dogfish head 2016 punkin ale last night and the 2015 tonight, not much of a pumpkin taste, kinda let down.

Meanwhile Rahr has a catnip infused beer they'll be serving next Wednesday. It's for a charity/pet adoption day though, definitely not for regular production!

Rahr's anniversary party is on November 5th, they'll have at least that many beers on tap. Also this Sunday from noon to 4 they are hosting an Iron Mash competition. 25+ home brewers outside plus the taps inside. Should be a good time.

There were plenty of Texas winners if you want to see what you missed. If it's like years past Oskar Blues gets all the left overs, you might try them this week if you are still in town.

The FW Flying Saucer held their annual Beerfeast last Saturday and I have to say it turned out great. At the last minute they decided to cut capacity to 600 people and sold only VIP tickets. I think it had to do with not getting a permit to close down the street. Regardless the crowd was very manageable and lines were never very long.

The hits in my opinion were Prairie's Brandy Apple Noir which I give a solid 5 star rating to, Bourbon County Stout of course, Parabola, Stickee Monkee, Sour Monkey, Vietnamese Speedway Stout, Jolly Russian, Boulevard's Rye on Rye and a great beer from the Bruery named Poterie.

I ended up sampling around 35 beers, it was a good day!

I like sticking with the Paulaner Oktoberfest. Although Pedernales Lobo Oktoberfest won gold at the US open last year and silver at the LA competition. I'd buy it!

Also the FW Saucer's beerfeast is this Saturday. http://www.saucerbeerfeast.com/festi...ion=fort-worth
