I can't stand walking into peoples houses with pets and they don't take care of it...

One of our good friends have several cats, and they don't vacuum near enough.. I get disgusted anytime I have to go over there.

If I'm having people over, usually all I have to do is dust and run the vacuum. I didn't work my ass off to live in a shithole. The exception is probably my shower. I could do a better job with it, but it isn't in great shape and guests aren't using it anyway, so I let it be.
I think this is what pisses me off the most. Coming home after being gone for 3 months and I have to hire someone to come clean or spend my time getting things the way I want it. It is a feat in body language control to not explode when I walk in the door after being away for 3+ months.

I am okay with the kid toys/mess, I am okay with the dogs toys but people mess drives me nuts.

Other people, depends on a variety of factors, the biggest one being if they have kids. I guess I don't understand why people wouldn't take the ten minutes a day it takes to keep an average sized house clean and just do it. It's such a better quality of life. It drives my OCD insane to see clutter. It isn't due to my upbringing either, I always had the cleanest room of my siblings(and my parents didn't have to ask, I just kept it that way). One of my sisters home looks like she could be on Hoarders, (literally, there are walkways through each room, lined with junk, and it has been this way for a decade)and I don't go over there unless it's going to be a 10 minute visit to pick something up. I don't know how people live that way.

Ours stays pretty clean. Worst thing is mail clutter that I go through every Friday or so.

Paying a maid to come every other week to clean is the best money I have ever invested. I still vacuum at least twice a week, and shampoo the carpets once a month. If guest come over, you can be DAMN sure the house is spotless.

With 3 kids and a wife that knows nothing about cleaning or cooking, the lazy bitch. I keep the house as clean as possible.

Mine is cluttered, but not dirty. One of my friends keeps her house FILTHY. If you walk across the kitchen floor with white socks on, they will be black by the time you reach the living room.

Mine is pretty messy, but mostly because since i moved in I have been working my ass off. Also the kitchen/dining area and both bathrooms are mid-remodel - so there is materials all over the place.

If it were a matter of people coming over, then I would make sure it is as clean as possible.

My pet peeve is mail piled up covering my entire fucking bar and counter top at the house. Everytime I come home for R&R, there is a fucking mass of mail and piles covering up my bar counter top.

I went and bought a document storage box for her to put all the pieces of mail we needed to keep in order. I even went through and organized it all. Next R&R, same big fucking pile.

By my standards ours is getting a bit messy. My wife hasn't quite found that balance between house work and taking care of our kid. I've been hammered with work so I'm not doing much on weekdays. On weekends I try to knock out chores to take a bit of a load off her. It's all good because she make me sandwiches and brings me an occasional beer.
