Sure his life may not have been in danger but maybe he's barely scraping by and that two cases of beer hit his margins just enough to where he can't pay the rent and will be out of business next month? I know it's a stretch but when you steal from a small business you may literally be taking food off of their kid's plate.

...then add on being an easy mark and I can understand why someone would pull the trigger. We all have what we would personally do, but as mentioned several time - I understand why he chose to shoot the crook.

I say 'no bill' him. Buy him a beer, thank him for his service to the betterment of the community and hand him a sign for the front of his store showing the guy he shot with the words "Shoplifting, is it worth it?"

If it was a cop that shot him, frost would be begging for the officers badge, civil liability and death penalty for the officer.

I don't think so, but hard to say. I think generally it is abuse of power, f'ing with people on their property without need and making mistakes that have no consequences - unlike a civilian. (mistake or not, this is a good example)

To my knowledge I have not heard anything about the guy displaying a weapon....that doesn't mean he didn't. I figured if he had...it would have been all over the article. I just keep thinking back to all the times kids or college kids I've known have done late night "beer runs" at various grocery stores and how people would react if some 17 or 18 year old white college kid were gunned down for trying to snatch a 12 pack of beer by the local store owner. I'm sorry but stealing a 12 pack of beer doesn't by itself qualify for a death sentence.

I don't think the death penalty would come up but a police officer is trained to know the difference between a misdemeanor theft charge and attempted murder. That and a police officer wouldn't be protecting their livelihood or property.

If a person broke into a police car to steal evidence out of the trunk do you think an officer would hesitate to shoot?

I agree in shooting the guy! Just not killing him. I think the law needs to be changed shoot to kill only if your life is in danger. A simple shot to the leg would have sufficed!
