if we have 10,000 to work with can we just invest $100 per stock?

edit, I think I understand, you are allowed 1% of the volume for a stock for that days trading for that stock.
The understanding you outlined in your edit is more correct. It's 1% of the trading volume (ie, number of shares) for that particular stock. I don't know exactly how they're calculating volume (daily, weekly, etc).

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

Thanks, I was thinking about it right after I posted the first question and found a answer I could understand. I'm using the game as a learning tool as it's intended I hope.
Don't worry about what you can't change.

No shit! After the 88 trades and 11-13% profit on the first day, my BS meter lit up, but not so much anymore.

I've had my sht in a 401 and didn't have very many options for 30 years. I transferred it into a IRA, since it was already with fidelity, I left it there. I have a Scott trade account but adding money there is a real pain since it's done by snail mail. I did a few transfers to a stable value fund in my old 401 like the Friday before 911 when the market hit a high, I moved it all out to a dollar fund, the next few months I bought back in . 2008, I was in dollars too so I was able to hold onto my stuff unlike some.
I moved to the IRA in Aug. and have been picking some to watch for investing. I'm not risking anything on puts and calls. to me that's greek. I've just been doing market buys and I got a little burnt in this game when I bought that way. I think I need to learn how to use limit orders.

Yeah, I kinda fucked up thinking Apple was going to release solid earnings and I was going to see a bump. I gambled and lost on that one. Yesterday was kinda a bleh day for what I was holding too.

Buying aapl before earnings and selling on the print used to be what one analyst referred to as "free money". It's a little trickier now.

I now refer to shorting volatility spikes as "free money" ... or TSCO when I saw it back in May of 2009 (still own it).

That's how I made most of my money on the first round.

Looks like most of us would have been better off sticking our money in a drawer.

Yeah, I think there were about twice the number of people in the green last time. Still early though.

Very early. It is a bit odd that the market is up 1% since the start and there are that many negatives ... and that Patrick has managed to outperform $2070 in commmission charges!
