I was talking to a buddy last night and the topic of legalizing weed came up. We were both wondering what compaines that employ people in legal weed states do about their drug policies?

What do employers do about legal weed usage?

From what I have heard / read, it really hasn't changed employer policies in those states. And other than ADA protections (for addiction), they are free to retain a no drug use policy. Hell, they (and some do) can choose to hire / fire based on plenty of legal activities, including tobacco use.Originally posted by stephen4785 View PostI was talking to a buddy last night and the topic of legalizing weed came up. In my opinion, as long as an employee isn't under the influence at work, and their job is not the type where it could cause safety issues, I don't think they should worry about it.

I had an employer tell me that if I went somewhere weed was legal, and came back with dirty pee, I'd be canned. Hell, they drug tested a lady that was from Jamaica, every time she went to visit her family, and one guy that was the straightest arrow you've ever met (he didn't even consume anything with caffeine) when he visited Europe, because someone made an Amsterdam joke about him within earshot of the HR director.ZOMBIE REAGAN FOR PRESIDENT 2016!!! heh

My son works at Six Flags and he was telling me that they drug test for any little reason there. I'm sure the recent accident has increased that, but he said for basically any minor infraction or if they even just feel like you are acting "strange".Originally posted by YALE View PostI had an employer tell me that if I went somewhere weed was legal, and came back with dirty pee, I'd be canned. Weed isn't legal in Jamaica, not that knowing that would stop them from testing her.Originally posted by YALE View PostI had an employer tell me that if I went somewhere weed was legal, and came back with dirty pee, I'd be canned. Depends a lot on your body fat percentage and how much / often you smoke. Could be much less, could be longer.Originally posted by 03mustangdude View PostWeed stays in your system for what 30 days?
And if their testing hair, it's detectible if you consumed it and have not cut the hair since (or the section growing upon consumption anyways).

Depends on frequency of usage and how active you are. I got called in to work for a random UA back in college, only 2 or 3 days after partaking. I had a few hours to report, so I started downing water and doing cardio, absolutely freaked out the entire time. Ended up pissing clean, mind you I had only smoked a handful of times before then.Originally posted by 03mustangdude View PostWeed stays in your system for what 30 days?

doing cardio is the last thing you want to do... burning fat that has THC in it is going to put metabolites in your piss
drinking water, on the other hand, is all you need to do. Typically employment screens don't care as long as you're clean. If you drink enough water that you're essentially pissing straight water, you're good
