Spelling/Grammar and your Opinion of People...

In class group project in my ethics class tonight. We're supposed to compare religion to morals, and I tell the girl that is writing our responses that "People use the guise of religion to do terrible things." She writes down "Men" in the place of guise. I don't know what to do without sounding like a total cock. Finally I say, that word should be guise, as in g-u-i-s-e. She has no idea what I'm talking about. She thought I meant people use the guys of religion to do terrible things.

imo, the worst part about that is that she would instantly know what "lol", "lmao", or "omg" mean...

I don't think it's of paramount importance on a message board such as this. This is just for fun all in all. However, I think any and all work related correspondence needs to be stated in a cogent manner and be grammatically correct. At least try to feign like you are an educated and reasonably competent employee. And it also facilitates day to day communication when you can understand what the hell someone is trying to convey in their litany of bad grammar and misspelled words. Just my 2 cents....

One of the things that prompted me to reenroll in college was the quality of other people I see with 4 year degrees. I can get a Bachelors in Liberal Arts and look like a rocket scientist next to some of these mouth breathers. If they can do it, I saw no reason why I didn't have a degree.

I absolutely can not stand the fact that people who are supposedly more highly educated than me can make such simple mistakes habitually. It bothers me more than I can stand. What is even worse is when you know somebody can spell, punctuate, and use proper grammar but are too lazy to do so.

If people make constant spelling and grammar mistakes I view that in a negative way. I can understand a typo here and there, but some folks have issues.

An ex of mine was a HORRIBLE speller and I had no idea how she made it at work.

When people whine about the way someone else posts on a message board it changes my thought of that person more than someone who doesn't use proper grammar.

I tend to think this way as well. It is annoying to see people consistently use horrible grammar and spelling, but it seems some of these people complaining about it on here literally get upset and emotional over it. Cracks me up.
