I did the hoseclamp which stopped them from stealing my tailgate. They took out a taillight but left when when I opened the garage door. I did.the pop a lock from ebay after that Don't spend extra dollars for the GM one. Its pop a lock.

They didn't do locking tailgates until 2008. When I had my 07, I came out from Sam's missing a taillight. My wife's '13 has the backup camera in the tailgait but luckily it locks.

It's not a standard feature. My 08 Sierra SLE didn't come with one. Luckily the OEM handle and lock kit is cheap on eBay.
