Sorry to hear it. I've lost several friends and some family members to suicide. A few years ago I lost a very close friend and mentor to suicide. I knew he was hurting, and what he was going through. We talked about it every day, as I was going through several of the same things that he was at the time. I never, for one second, thought he would take matters in to his own hands and end it like that. In the end I think it was a bad combination of anti depressants and alcohol that impaired his judgement and pushed him over the edge. I still struggle with it, as do many others. Keep your head up.

I can imagine being 60 and the winter holidays dragging you way down. You've watched a lot of your loved ones die. Missing the hell outta of them and little to live for.
Sorry for your loss. Love the P.S. remark.

OP I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. The people left behind always wonder if they could've done something, but in the end its a decision one person made and acted on. I've been in the spot where you are now.
Holler if you need to, man.

Secondly, my step brother overdosed and died when I was seventeen.
Now...third...you forget about that selfish asshole and you seek out his friends and loved ones and give your condolences to them and help them out however you can. There's no excuse for suicide. No matter where you are in life, there is somebody out there worse off than you.
I obviously have no sympathy for pussies that take the easy way out. My dads friend commited suicide a while back and after talking to my pops and him helping that guys family...it's just too selfish for me to gather sympathy for the "victim."

Guest repliedSuicide is very misunderstood. Anyone thinking it is "easy" needs to have a 180 degree view correction. As for being selfish, how selfish is it for everyone else saying that the person who died should have stuck around for THEIR sake. That isn't the very definition of selfish? lol Anyway, I don't want to hijack this, but that just really bugs the hell out of me. It isn't always about needing someone to talk to or someone else being worse off. We are all the centers of our own universes.

My friend Mickey, although I wish he hadn't done it. I completely understand. Years of dipping snuff in his early years gave him mouth and neck cancer. After 2 major surgeries to try and stop it including removing half his tounge he found out that the cancer had spread to his bones and he was in pretty bad pain and was getting worse by the week. I can't say I wouldn't have done the same thing if it were me. Watching him suffer was bad enough I can't imagine having to go through it. Yea, he put alot of us through emotional pain but this time I don't feel it was selfish and I'm not angry. Just miss a good friend.
Sorry for your loss OP and to all who knew him.

That sucks. I remember when I found out that my high school theater teacher hung himself. he was probably the most influential non-family member in my teen years.
I was about 27 when I found out. I was numb to it at first but a few months later in the middle of the night I woke up fighting mad, and to this day it tugs at me.
