Kannapali Shores condo's last October. Not a very big place, about 75-80 condos. On the beach. Very nice - 1BR 1bath full kitchen @ $110 a night for a week. There was a hut by the beach that we used to book fishing and dive trips. Was less than half of the online price. Go to Safeway in Lannai for food. Cheaper than the stores in Kannapali. Or get stuff from the roadside vendors.

One thing you absolutely have to do is the pineapple tours. Do NOT buy from people selling on the road because they are either not Maui Golds (hybrid pineapples) or stolen. You get to take two pineapples home ( you can take them on the flight) and you can eat all that you can on the tour. VERY cool.

Better to stay on west or east side island?

The best beaches and resorts are on the west side. The waves are smaller which leads to better swimming, snorkeling etc.

The surfers / windsurfers head to the east side (windward side) of the island. The wind / wave action is incredible there. It was fun to watch.

Yes, but Lahaina and Kaanapali are less windy than the east side of the island.
