The problem in these situations is that the money comes from taxpayers not the people responsible and that the officers are not barred from holding ANY govt job again.

Maybe the general population will start demanding individual accountability when the money they pay for social services is, instead, spent on reparations for corruption and abuse. The girl doesn't need $40 million; the agencies involved need to have the money carved from their budgets. Stupid shit like this stops when they can't afford the liability.

Maybe accountability at the departmental office level, but at the individual level its pretty ridiculous to personally fine/charge the idiot, that jumped on the hood, 5 million dollars (40 mil / 8 parties ) or even 1 million. It would disable the effectiveness of all police officers even the good ones.

Allowing that level of liability would also clog up the court system with frivolous law suits with everyone trying to make a dollar.

Now with that said said I do thing that politicians should be held accountable for everything they vote into law

I don't think they should sue the individual officer, but I think they should be fired and possibly have criminal charges filed against them. The trumped up charges are inexcusable. These people hold to power to COMPLETELY fuck up your life.
