As long as he didn't over pay for the truck he should be alright. When my 11 Powerstroke got totaled it was a year old with 23k miles and the insurance gave me within 1k of what I paid for it new. I'm with Forrest, if they steal it I don't want it back.

they picked the biggest piles of shit for a diesel to steal.Originally posted by Rreemo View PostOne of my good friends is a FT. Worth Police Sgt. and has told me numerous times about how much of a hotbed that area is for stolen diesels.
Apparently there is a ring that is picking them off (almost daily at one point), and they've recovered very few...most stolen are 6.0 & 6.4 PSD's.sigpic

That's why they think it's in relation to a shop, targeting the same trucks that most often need an engine replacement....and ironically the few that have been recovered were missing the engine. Seems like a plausible theory.Originally posted by prostock1 View Postthey picked the biggest piles of shit for a diesel to steal.70' Chevelle RagTop

What parking lot? I may need to go "shop" there for an extended period of time with my truck. Steal my shit and I will call Enterprise to come pick me up right after I call the Police and Geico. Whereas I love my truck and can't force myself to sell it, I would not mind the check the insurance company would write me for a paid off vehicle.Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

Very True....both could drive themselves to the nearest dealership, since they make the trip so often.Originally posted by Cooter View Postnobody said anything about a Duramax

You're smoking crack if you put a Duramax anywhere close to the 6.0/6.4 PSD's. We have a bunch of each here at our construction company and Duramax trucks have been the most trouble free by far.Originally posted by Cooter View Postnobody said anything about a Duramax

Do you run them 24/7 with about 60% idle time ?Originally posted by quikag View PostYou're smoking crack if you put a Duramax anywhere close to the 6.0/6.4 PSD's. We have a bunch of each here at our construction company and Duramax trucks have been the most trouble free by far.
We've had both Ford and Chevy diesels, the main problem is the special tools needed to service them, our Fleet Dept. always sends them out when it's check engine light related.
We're swiching to Chevy Gasoline..... already checked with other agencies and they did the same thing.... out with the dieselssigpic

We run dmax for our 1 ton service trucks and 6.0 gas chevys for our pickups, we have great luck out of the gas engines even up to 200k. the dmax is good to about 150k working it hard and then get out your check book.Originally posted by prostock1 View PostDo you run them 24/7 with about 60% idle time ?

We tell our guys not to idle them too much unless they are moving around the jobsite. Chevy gasoline are awesome engines. We aren't buying as many diesels as we used to unless they will be used for heavy towing or hauling, going more to gas 3/4 ton and gas 1/2 ton. That said, we have some good mechanic trucks and 3500HD Chevy (newer ones) with the newest Duramax and they are getting up to 22mpg on the highway and run strong and good. The newer ones don't have over 100k yet, so I guess time will tell, but they sure have been great so far.Originally posted by prostock1 View PostDo you run them 24/7 with about 60% idle time ?

We have some older Duramax trucks that went to 250-300k without major issues and then it was just injector type stuff. We had so much 6.0 diesel blow up, we've basically sworn off Ford diesels even if the new 6.7's are good engines, we just can't go there right now with the Duramax having been good to us. Not to mention the upgraded Chevy HD chassis' are really robust and well engineered.Ford

Leave a key in the ignitionOriginally posted by Cooter View Postmake sure your insurance is paid up and don't over-invest in the truck
if you locate it, you're going to be left with a molested truck with a theft claim on the title history...
If they want it that bad, they can have it IMO

My 08 service truck weighs 10,000lbs and has been at 575rwhp for 80k miles. Currently at 189k. All original ball joints, u-joints, steering components, transmission, etc. Heads have never been off. Head bolts haven't been touched since International originally assembled the engine.Originally posted by quikag View PostYou're smoking crack if you put a Duramax anywhere close to the 6.0/6.4 PSD's. Doors shut solid, driver seat isn't torn up, no squeaks/rattles/etc.
GM HD trucks are throw-aways IMO
