Took an 1100 mile road trip in my 2012 Mustang 3.7/A6. This picture is the average mileage about 450 miles into the trip, about 45 minutes after filling up with the second tank of gas. That's right..... a 32.2 MPG average.
Pretty impressive if accurate. Especially for power those damned 6 bangers can make.
I calculated it manually, the 32MPG was accurate. But look at the gauges, 80MPH at 2000RPM - 2.73 gears. Stock other than a canned 93 octane street tune.

Nice then. My formula runs close to that at 80 in 6th gear. Never done a pure highway tank, but I average 21.
These cars do amaze. This is my 2012 GT, with the Kenne Bell installed, last year going up to Ohio for the track rental. 30.9 with 650 hp, not too bad.
My 2013 5.0 M6 has averaged a best of 24.5 mpg over the course of a 4600 mile road trip. I was extremely pleased with that, considering my heavy foot, the amount of mountains I drove through, and the lower quality of gas in other parts of the country.
Yes. I've never had a mpg indicator that was remotely accurate - they were/are way too optimistic.

I want to like Slow99 since people I know say he's a good guy, but just about everything he posts is condescending and passive aggressive.
Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?
You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

I ran the numbers & the mileage was very close. But this was a best case scenario, pure highway cruise, 65-70 degrees- that leg was Dallas to Wichita, which is table top flat. Now when I did the Wichita to Topeka leg- which has some rolling foot hills, the average dropped to 28MPG.
In the real world, my going to work & back mileage is about 24MPG.
I've averaged 32hwy. Mpgs coming back from San Antonio, this was with a K&N filter in the stock cai, but since I've switched back to the stock filter and have only seen 28 in my 5.0 A6.
