Ebay Shenanigans

I buy stuff all the time on ebay, couple thousand items. Only had to open two cases and both times ebay didn't even give the seller a chance (they were in the wrong so I didn't care) and refunded my money and sent me a return label.

I would never sell on ebay because people are full of shit and will take advantage of you and ebay pretty much don't care any more.

Perfect example of that is that I bought some round stock the other day and when it came in it did not want to fit into the collets on my lathe. I measured it and it came out to 16mm instead of the 5/8" that it was listed as. The size difference is super minimal but my precision collets can tell. Anyways I went to ask him a question about it and in the reasons list for wanting to talk to him after the deal was done I selected the most accurate reason and that was "item was not as described" mind you this was only going through the "contact the seller" link not any type of open a case thing. Well apparently ebay just does that for you. Guy called me on my cell about 5 minutes later wanting to get it hashed out asap. I explained that I wasn't trying to start anything up and would have preferred a much more civil approach at first but ebay forced it on my behalf. He said he knows that ebay sucks a big one like that. Anyways, we worked it out and I kept the material. I found a 16mm collet for $20 and he split it with me so I would have it in the future if I buy more of his material.

3rd time listing a cell phone with a cracked screen. Everyone bids even though description and title say its cracked. Email buyer at the end and they are like i didn't know it was cracked.

Been selling/buying on ebay for over ten years, most often using PayPal, and have never had any problems.

I always had a secondary bank account just for receiving PayPal transactions that I would empty immediately because of a dick around on ebay's part.

My situation was for a serialized item that I personally delivered, when I started to pursue criminal action for theft, the customer paid pretty damn fast, as well as PayPal fees.

Well, I called the guy out on it and he got scared. Money is no longer on hold. Out of paypal it comes!
