What is this Ice Water Challenge BS ?!

I keep seeing all this stupid ice water challenge bullshit posted on Facebook.

Apparently you're supposed to get 2 1/2 gallons of ice water dumped on you, drink a beer, have another 2 1/2 gallons dumped on you, drink another beer and then call out 5 other people to get ice water dumped on or they are supposed to donate $100 to the charity of their choice.
