There's a switch inside of them, range from 1-10. Depending on what the vendor has it set on, is the strength of the claw.

If set on "1" - it will be max grip strength each time.

If it is on "5" - every 5th time it will actually grip worth a shit..

I went to Golden Corral with a co-worker about 8 years ago, they had the crane machine set on 1, we cleaned that fucker out. I still see Ct. America and Green Lantern floating around the cubes in my office.
