Writing a ticket for a rolling stop is a chicken shit ticket. If nobody else was at the other corners and he slowed to less than 5mph whats the big fucking deal? Some of you guys talk like the kid is a reckless danger to society. Given I do not know the circumstances at that intersection at the time of the ticket I have been stopped for doing exactly what I described. If he blew the stop sign that's one thing or if it was in an active school zone that's another but just a regular ole intersection with nobody else around, fuck it.
Also just because he tells his dad he "rolled" a stop sign, does not mean he didn't take it on two wheels at 50 mph. I don't write "rolled" stop sign tickets, you have to moving right a long and barely tap the brakes, or not touch them at all. I also put in the comments section the approximate speed they were going and we pull the video for court, they back up for a minute now. Results may vary a lot among officers, but most kids now days are of the not my fault variety. Or the kid may have been hauling ass, popo was not at a angle to get him on radar and just got him for rolling the first stop sign he came to. Still would have just been a good strong verbal from me but everyone is different. I know those guys that would write their damn mother.
I rolled a stop sign once when I was like 17 and a cop was sitting in a parking lot on the intersecting street. There was no talking my way out of that one. I don't think I have ever rolled another stop sign to this day.
This logic is dumb dude. Yes you right the Lil shit a ticket. If not he won't see he was wrong and will treat it like no big deal. That leads to him possibly killing him or someone else.
As,far as chicken shit? Well guess what Fucker. You broke the law. Expect less than the consequences put in place then you end up with your outlook. Obey the law.

Just because it's a law doesn't mean it's right, fucker!
You live and learn driving when young. If you punish him too severe, he'll hid the tickets from you. Show him what tickets do to insurance, license suspensions, his choices for work later in life, ect. Do whatever it takes to keep it off his record. It's hard enough being a kid these days without having your car taken away.
Don't worry about what you can't change.
Do the best you can with what you have.
Be honest, even if it hurts.

LOL typical DFWM death spiral. He's a good kid that f'd up and didn't come to a complete stop at a 3 way stop between neighborhoods. This intersection isn't busy at 5pm so I'm sure it wasn't at 10:30pm when this occurred. He already pays his insurance and he will be paying the fine. I knew some here would have received the same citation so was looking more for legal advice instead of parental. But I'm glad I could provide a bit of a distraction for you guys
Legal? Well a lawyer at best can get it reduced and know what to do to keep it off his record. Or when he goes before the judge you can ask them and they will tell you what to do also. Can even ask the judge to reduce the fine or dismiss it seeing as it's his first time. Sometimes it works

Non tapatalk Sig so the butt hurt va-JJs can stop crying about not being able to turn it off.
17 year old son rolled a stop sign. Besides the obvious lecture from parental units and the privilege of paying the stupid tax to the city, what else should he do? Deferred? Driving school? Other (besides stop breaking the law asshole)?
Have him call differnt insurance agencies and figure out how much insurance will cost without being attached to an adult. then show him how much his insurance costs now (if he doesnt know already).
Have him do a paper on how the point system works. Its summer he has the time.
should also check his phone history for the time to see if he was talking/texting while driving.
