I got an extra key for my 2011 F150 off of EBay. It has the chip, but it's not programmed yet. I had it cut to match, then I tried it in my door to make sure it worked. When I opened the door with it, my truck started making a dinging sound and the dash had a message "start truck to stop alarm".

BMW has a similar feature, can't lock the doors with the key or the lock button if the doors are open. Impossble to lock your keys in that way. Guess it saves them $$$ on Road Side assistance calls.Originally posted by slow55 View PostIdk but I found out by accident the other day that you can't lock you keys in the truck if they are in the ignition.

Not on my 05 BMW, the key fob would not do anything if the doors were open. I guess you could manually push the little lock down, never tried that.Originally posted by Foxy90GT View Postbut you can lock them with the key fob. i do it all the time mwith my expedition when its running in the morning and use to do the same with my excursion.

It should be doing that because you did not use the remote to unlock the truck. You can try to lock the doors with the lock switch on the door or key instead of the remote and see if the truck still gives you that message when you unlock the door with the uncoded key.Originally posted by 03trubluGT View PostI got an extra key for my 2011 F150 off of EBay.
