I have an hp laptop that I need to get the power jack replaced in. Does anyone know of a place in either the mckinney or frisco area they would recommend taking it to? Any idea what this might cost? Or does anyone on here do this? I found the part online for around $30 but I dont really care to take it apart myself too many damn pieces.

Model of laptop? Did the connectors break off of the main board? Are you sure that's what it is?

It wont charge anymore. Before you had to mess with the plug to get it to work now it wont do anything. Tried a new charger with no luck. Ill have to get the model number after work.

A small screwdriver, soldering iron and some patience may fix it for nearly free.

I'd find someone who specializes in this. There is a place called High Tech Redneck on El Dorado, never used but has decent reviews on Yelp. I'd ask up front the costs and any warranty/guarantees.

I've done lots of pc repair work but DC jack repair is one of the few things I won't mess with.

I'd expect it run you around $75+ so make sure the laptop is worth investing that amount into.

I will look into them. I have probably a couple thousand pictures of my daughter and family on there so yeah sentimentally its worth the investment to save the pictures. I talked with best buy and they estimated $250 to make the repair! Ill try it myself for that price.. haha although i would rather let someone experienced do it. I started taking it apart on night and stopped. Way too many small screws to get mixed up or lost.

There are probably youtube videos that will show you how to take the laptop apart (for your specific model or one VERY close to it) so you can get it down to the mainboard. This really is not a difficult repair provided you take your time and dont get impatient. I've repaired several laptops with this issue as well as other issues.
