Remember, restraining orders are civil and not enforceable by police. A protective order is.

The protective order is the first thing I would suggest. She will have to go down to the police or sheriff's office and go through that process, but when/if she gets one in place, his jack-wagon arse will get arrested the next time he messes with her. Plus, it won't cost her anything if she goes the protective order route. From what you've described, it sounds like she probably qualifies for one. The restraining order is fine, but when/if he violates it she will have to go back to the court where her divorce is pending to try and have him held in contempt. That will cost money and time. The protective order works the second the cops show up and get him. PM me if you have any more questions.

She got the keys when he moved out. I'm guessing she forgot to get the door opener and it didn't cross her mind.

I'd tell her to get armed and taken some lessons in handling intruders.

A protective order will get the cops involved but she needs to be willing to act in the time between her 911 call and the cops showing up.

Just unplug the garage door opener when she leaves...it's a pain but its a quick fix.

I'd say plug it back in (or make it work again). and Leave a pit bull in the garage.

File a restraining order have her purchase and carry her firearm. Security setup inside the house will be able to catch the guy in the act if he is indeed getting into the house.
