Yes, disregard anything they send you other than a dunning letter. For now, we need to know if they are reporting or notOriginally posted by racrguy View PostJeff: I don't know if it's accurate or not, but I wouldn't sign anything that gets sent to them, as it's amazing how signatures can jump from form to form.
Chronical: accurate?

I misread this earlier. If you are saying not to sign any letters that the op is sending in to the collection agency, that would be correct as well. Always type your name in the letter. Signing is not necessary and your signature can be lifted to forge contracts etc. I would like to think that sort of thing doesn't happen often but that's no reason to risk itOriginally posted by racrguy View PostJeff: I don't know if it's accurate or not, but I wouldn't sign anything that gets sent to them, as it's amazing how signatures can jump from form to form.

I wouldn't listen to Dave Ramsey. I know that sounds like, "listen to me, some no body on an Internet forum" but that's not what I mean. His ideas are great for people drowning in debt and who have no self control or a basic idea of a budget. I am not familiar with that site but I do understand what collection agencies can and can not doOriginally posted by mschmoyer View PostDunno bout this, but i listen to Dave Ramsey's podcast and he always shoots people to "collectionbully.com". Edit: that is basically a link to a consumer law "slip and fall" type attorney who will take on as many of these cases as possible to make a quick buck. I don't get sue happy unless the c.a. goes way to far and then I stick it to them. The next logical step after documenting all violations would be filing a complaint with the cfpb and/or filing suit.Last edited by chronical; 07-24-2014, 01:27 PM.
