Yeah, that would be enough to give me "range anxiety", as they call it.Originally posted by Craizie View PostI wish I could do something like that. An 80 miles scares me as I drive 62 miles round trip for work and often get stuck in traffic.
I really wouldn't have considered it if I didn't have my buddy needing to offload it. I'd drive a Tesla Model S in a nanosecond, but they're just too pricey. A pony car size/styled Tesla priced in the $30K range would definitely have my attention though.Originally posted by Cooter View Postelectric vehicles ARE the future... it'll be a while, but I don't fault you for giving it a go
I'm old school, and truly believe there's no replacement for burning gas when it comes to the enthusiast side of things, but for a point-A-to-point-B car, I think electric is a viable alternative.
I'd be all kinds of mad/sad if internal combustion were to die off though. My hope is that the proliferation of low/zero emission cars will buy our fire breathing V8's and turbo cars more time.

I believe this is true. My livelihood is IC engines, but I believe this will eventually be a reality.Originally posted by Cooter View Postelectric vehicles ARE the future... it'll be a while, but I don't fault you for giving it a go
With Musk having a hand in the EV, solar, and battery markets is it really that far off? They are already looking at, or are doing, solar (with Solar City components) recharging stations for Tesla, and you know he has something up his sleeve or in the works to improve batteries. One step into wind power along with that battery tech also...Originally posted by 1carcrazyguy View PostRolling black outs.......
Musk said in the past they needed to start with a small market, high price car to open the door (Tesla S) and that after that the market would accept a low price, high market car (Pretty sure Tesla signed a contract with Daimler to supply batteries for an elec version of the Smart car... then would come the medium price, middle market.Originally posted by BLAKE View PostI'd drive a Tesla Model S in a nanosecond, but they're just too pricey. I wanted to hate that guy (Musk), but driving the Model S made me a believer. Was cruising down 121 earlier today and watched a red Model S go from 60 to sayonara in a very short amount of time. Fast, comfy and fun. Tesla should give me one for shilling for them, lol.Originally posted by Strychnine View PostMusk said in the past they needed to start with a small market, high price car to open the door (Tesla S) and that after that the market would accept a low price, high market car (Pretty sure Tesla signed a contract with Daimler to supply batteries for an elec version of the Smart car... then would come the medium price, middle market.

You can't price an electric car the same way you would a gasser.Originally posted by 46Tbird View PostThat's pretty cool, man. Autobahn brings out the BMW i3 all-electric car out all the time. That thing is neat as hell. I don't think I could justify the asking price ($41k base).
PS - The Ranch in Las Colinas has a free charging station. Every time I've been I see a different color Leaf parked there, lol.

Blake, you can afford an S.ZOMBIE REAGAN FOR PRESIDENT 2016!!! heh
