I lived in Elsternwick, which was the Jewish center of Melbourne. My neighbor was a very observant Orthodox Jew and I would turn his AC unit on for him on the Sabbath since he wasn't allowed to operate electronics. He would always hook me up with some of whatever food his family was having that day.

Also, since they couldn't use electronics including vehicles, you would see legions of Orthodox Jews on Razor scooters hauling ass around town with those big hats, curls, and full orthodox clothing in 100+ degree weather. First time I saw my neighbor pull into the complex on it he said "I know it's ridiculous Tex, but it is what it is" and I had to laugh.
