SO we went Saturday and it was really fun for those who have never been. We were in a large rowdy group to say the least. We only had time for two runs. The entire first race was just trying to figure out the track and where to brake etc. The second actually tried to make time to upgrade carts but missed it by one stinking second. I know if i went again could make time. So many wrecks to avoid each lap!

Really fun though, they will beat the hell out of you too though. I have two large bruises on my back from where the short seat made contact through the turns!

The wife and I went today. We had a great time and you are right they will beat you up. We did the two seater first and I thought the wheels were coming off the back until we got up to speed. I did well with that one as we passed half the field and lapped two cars. Then we did the singles. Only one little guy passed me and we passed everyone else they let out in front of us. First race some guy and his daughter buried their shit into the barriers. Then on the second lap one cart was buried into another barrier in the mud.

I will go again sometime in the near future and try to qualify for the faster carts. I think the price is fair VS buying one and setting it up. They had some of the shifter Karts out there that were hauling ass.

I did the racing league in fall 2014. They prepped the carts before the season with tuneups and new tires. Then they ran the cars and pulled out the fastest and slowest ones so all of them would be as close as possible.

It was 6 weeks of racing. Each week we would draw our cart number from a hat. Then, we would do a 8 warmup (qualifying) laps, a 10 lap heat and 12 lap final. You would get points based on your finishes.

There were 3 weight classes; light, medium, heavy. I was close to the top of the medium, which was a disadvantage for me.

Some of those guys were a notch above everyone else. There was one guy that had won the medium class before. To make it more challenging to him, he moved from the medium to the light class.

One of the guys I raced against is a wfaa reporter. He was a really nice guy and could drive really well. http://www.wfaa.com/about-us/team-bi...moore/29210827

I finished the season in 7th out of 18 or 19 people in my weight class. It took me a few weeks to adjust my driving style, which was counter intuitive to how to make a cart go the quickest around the track.

My best finish was 3rd, which I felt good about, considering the talent that was out there.

It was expensive ($400), but well worth it when you think about the fact that we were using their carts, fuel, tires, track, suit, etc. All we had to do was show up and race our asses off. We would start around 7pm, rotating groups troughout the evening and then the last group would finish up about 11:30 or so. So we got 4.5 hours of racing, watching, bullshitting and determining to get a full set up "perfect" laps in during the next heat.

I plan on doing it again sometime. It was true racing (not the normal gocart riding) and everyone drove their asses off, but also tried to not intentionally wreck each other. Although that happened plenty. I was run into, broadsided and punted off the track. I had the bruises to show for it. I learned that when you're going around a corner at the edge of adhesion and someone taps you, it doesn't take much to send you off of the track.

Each week, they would change the track configuration so that we had a new track to learn. One week, it had rained a lot, so many people went boating if they went off track.

I would love to go out there and check it out. However, from what I have heard in the way the carts beat you up it wouldn't be good for my back!

It mainly makes the muscles sore from the G-forces and working the wheel, but when you go off track, it jars you around pretty good. After a few weeks of racing, the soreness went away.

My lower back (L3, L4) has given me problems in my younger years, but I didn't see any negative effects from the carts.

If you don't do 3 or more sessions in one visit, I think you'd be okay.

So what is the key to making them go fast? I have run 74's then switched carts and couldn't break 78's I felt like my fast laps were trying to run as wide as possible and not scrub speed.

DKC is ok... but carry 80 mph into a banked ( 8 feet ) turn is so much better. Come out to NTK and do an arrive and drive with our 60 mph karts.

                            Talk to Bob 972 221 2567 http://www.ntkarters.com/

DKC is just to flat for me.

Get in touch with Bob and he can set every thing up. Usually on a Friday night before a race on Sat. night. In the mornings is cooler, we have the same 4 cycle karts DKC does.
We don't rent, just race. Demo karts are just for the experience. If I know you will be there I could bring out my Yamaha 100 cc clutch kart and play with it. I am 5'5'' 185 lbs. so you have to fit it. The other kart is Yamaha 100 cc Emmic with a big seat for the larger guys, old motor on it.

                                LET ME KNOW.
