I may be wrong here, I doubt it, but maybe. I think he was like a Explorer, not a cop in any form, but kids that just get random training in LE situations. We have them and I have seen more then one have issues. They work parades, special events, etc, but no weapons or anything.

I figured. Oh but hell no it sounds better that he was a "POLICE cadet". Like he was in the academy to be a police officer or something. I have seen one in my career go on and be a cop. It is cool stuff for them, as they do active shooter training, accident investigation, and weapons manipulations courses but still, not even close to being a cop. It just makes the story better I guess.
