There are some shady mofos here at work that are always on 2 way radios. I would like to be able to listen to what they are saying. They look like regular "walkie talkies" but are not your average consumer grade. Is there a bunch of different types or can I get something that will listen to pretty much anything that is being transmitted that is in range of me?

I was on the same track of thinking and I can't get close enough to their radios to tell. I think they are Motorola though. They look like cop radios and have a separate corded hand piece to key up and talk intoOriginally posted by lowthreeohz View PostIt really depends on their modulation scheme, but I dare say they are direct FM. You'll need to know what frequency they tx/Rx on.l I'd start by getting a model number of the radio and go from there.

You'll need a model number to even get close. If you know the company or organization you can start here: http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?aid=3021Originally posted by inline 6 View PostDamn, any way to narrow it down without access to the radios?

Yes, but channels are only maybe 6.25/12.5khz apart from eachother. Span that across 1ghz and there's a lot of RF out there, as previously mentioned.Originally posted by phaux View PostCan you set the scanner to just run through all the bands/channels until it finds traffic?
Just find me a model number and i can tell you what to use to listen in.
